Creating Your Account

Getting into DerbyFish takes just a couple of minutes. Here is how to set up your account and get on the water.

Sign Up Options

You can create a DerbyFish account using any of these methods:

• Email and password -- Enter your email address and choose a password. You will receive a confirmation email to verify your address before you can access all features.
• Sign in with Apple -- Tap the Apple button to use your Apple ID. This is the fastest option on iOS devices and keeps your email private if you prefer.
• Sign in with Google -- Tap the Google button to use your Google account. Works great on Android and web.

All three methods create the same type of account with full access to every feature. You can always add additional sign-in methods later from your account settings.

Choosing Your Username

After signing up, you will be asked to choose a username. This is your handle on DerbyFish -- it shows up on leaderboards, in messages, and on your profile.

A few things to keep in mind:

• Usernames must be unique across DerbyFish
• Keep it clean and appropriate -- usernames that violate our community guidelines will be flagged
• You can change your username later, but your old catches and leaderboard entries will update to reflect the new name
• Usernames are not case-sensitive, so "BigBass" and "bigbass" are treated as the same

Setting Your Profile Photo

You will be prompted to add a profile photo during signup. You can take a new photo with your camera or choose one from your photo library. This step is optional -- you can skip it and add a photo later from your profile settings. A profile photo helps other anglers recognize you, especially in derbies and on the social feed.

Verifying Your Email

If you signed up with email and password, check your inbox for a verification email from DerbyFish. Tap the link in that email to confirm your address. If you do not see it within a few minutes, check your spam folder or request a new verification email from the login screen.

Email verification is required before you can enter paid derbies or make purchases.

Logging In on Multiple Devices

Your DerbyFish account works across iOS, Android, and the web. Sign in with the same credentials on any device and your catches, derbies, Fish Cards, and everything else will be right there waiting for you. There is no limit on the number of devices you can use.

Trouble Signing Up?

If you run into issues during account creation:

• Make sure you have a stable internet connection
• Try a different sign-up method (Apple, Google, or email)
• If you get a "username taken" error, try adding numbers or abbreviations to make it unique
• Clear the app cache and try again if the signup screen is not loading
